Lisa Wolfe, candidate for Forest Committee

My name is Lisa Wolfe and I am a nemophilist. For me, it seems appropriate to use a seldom-used 100+ year-old term to describe myself. After all, this is Arden. The term stands for someone who has a love of forests and visits them often. That would be me. I wake up with the Arden Woods each morning and spend most of my day there. If you enter the trailhead at the end of Hillside Road, you have most likely seen me puttering around our leasehold. My husband, Eric Braunstein, and I were attracted to Arden for many reasons. We want to be members of a community that is, in fact, a community. We want to live with others who value green space and prioritize its preservation. We are proud that Eric is a third-generation resident – his grandfather and father once lived in one of the original Will Price homes. We have been residents since 2013.

INTERESTS & SKILLS: I know firsthand the good work the Forest Committee is doing. I have been supporting Carol and Bev (along with Eric) to  remediate invasives throughout our wooded areas and specifically in the grant-funded test zone off of Cherry Lane. If you want to see just how pervasive the invasive issue is, just stop by and take a look. We think you will be surprised. Throughout my career in communications, I sought positions that enabled me to support causes that I was passionate about: increasing the availability of affordable housing, adding a prescription benefit to Medicare (Part D), helping veterans move into professional careers after leaving the armed forces – to name a few. My plan is to continue that path in retirement. In addition to volunteering with the Forest Committee, I have been taking classes at Mt. Cuba and Longwood Gardens and through the New Castle County Extension Office to learn about native perennials, how to create a sustainable landscape at 2302 Hillside and to mitigate the storm water issues created by eradicating the bamboo in the southeast corner of our backyard. I hope to become a member of the Forest Committee to add value where I can. Thank you for the opportunity.
