WHO I AM:
I’ve logged over 2000 hours in the Arden forest working on trails and other committee projects and on daily dog walks with my pup Rory. I’ve enjoyed seeing the change of seasons reflected in the trees, flowers and shrubs. During these journeys I’ve enjoyed meeting other folks out hiking or walking their dogs. The forest is a key foundational component of Arden. It provides an ecological buffer zone: cleaning the air, filtering the water, sound proofing us from adjacent traffic, providing a habitat for wildlife and a space for recreation and relaxation.
Shortly after moving here I ran into Bev, Carol and Lisa of the Forest Committee hard at work removing invasive plants. I admired their expertise and dedication to being good stewards of our forest. They encouraged me to volunteer and I’ve been working with them weekly by cutting invasive species, pulling ivy off of trees, planting new trees and making the paths more walkable. I’ve also participated in the watershed cleanup we do each spring and the community fire pit sing-alongs. Since I’ve joined we’ve been joined by many others who likewise have shared interest in preserving a healthy forest. As a committee member I look forward to continuing to be an advocate for the Forests.
As you evaluate who to vote for, I encourage you to consider the folks who have hands on volunteer experience in our woods and a willingness to work as part of a team.
