WHO I AM:
I am a proud resident of Arden since 2003 and an active retiree who enjoys learning how Arden government works, interacting with people and helping where I can. Overall I have experience (either elected or volunteer) with Archives, Audit, Budget, BWVC, Forest and Board of Assessors as well as the ACSM Inc Board and the Arden Club Board. During my 30+ years as a public school educator I learned the value of cooperation and collaboration with my colleagues, my students and their parents. Transferring these skills to the committees and boards on which I’ve served has been key to helping me build groups that willingly work together as one team.
INTEREST AND/OR SKILLS:
I am currently secretary of the Audit Committee. This three-member committee works closely with the Treasurer and meets quarterly to review requests for payment from committees and monthly financial statements from the Village accounts. Additionally my duties on Audit include recording draft minutes of meetings and posting approved minutes on the Arden website. Audit has initiated a limited-term relationship with AKA Advisory, a local accounting firm that is helping this committee review our current internal audit practices. The outcome of Audit’s work with AKA will be a committee manual detailing best practices to follow for completing quality quarterly internal audit reviews of Arden’s finances. I would like to see this project through to completion.
