WHO I AM:
My name is David Bales. My wife, Jennifer Zarcone, and I have lived in Arden for eight months. We decided to move to Arden after doing extensive research about various places to live. Once we found Arden we knew it was the place for us, as we seem to share many values and interests with the majority of the residents here. We have volunteered at the Arden Fair for the last three years and we have participated in other Arden events and activities before we moved here. For about half of my adult life I was involved in manufacturing management and the other half I worked as a pipefitter. I have always had an interest in nature, music, and art. I am now retired and I am a musician. I do attend the Arden Village meetings and the ArdensReady meetings regularly because I want to always learn more about our community, and how I can serve it. In the past I was a rock climber, skier, runner, and hiker, but now I am very content to take walks around the Ardens with my wife, Jen, and our dog, River.
INTEREST AND/OR SKILLS:
My interests are many, but preserving natural areas, hiking, music, art, and building community are my interests that seem pertinent to Arden. In the past I have volunteered with a few environmental organizations, our local foodbank, and Habitat for Humanity. My training, certifications, and experience includes: Total Quality Management, Statistical Process Control, Welding Certifications, Rigging and Crane Signaling, Chainsaw Training, use and care of tools, Medial Gas Installer License, CPR, Basic First Aid, writing of processes and procedures, destructive and non-destructive testing and dimensional analysis, Nuclear Safety, and OSHA 40 hour training, among many other things. It seems that mostly what is needed on the Safety Committee is people that can identify hazards, can plan a job, and are ready, willing, and able to safely do some physical labor. I can do that. It’s about twice a week that my wife calls me Safety Dave, because I am always looking for ways to make my home, yard, and community safer. I believe that I am an excellent candidate for a position on the Safety Committee, and I look forward to serving my community. I would appreciate your vote. Thank You.
