Community Planning Committee

The Community Planning Committee plans the “physical and cultural future of the community.” It works to plan long- and short-term projects for the village in conjunction with other committees, the Trustees and residents.  The committee also has a few non-planning responsibilities, including overseeing the Memorial Garden (cemetery),  the G-Ardeners Community Garden (motion: 3/23/15) and implementing the Vacant Dwelling Ordinance 15.

Planning Committee’s Description

Established January 1968 by the Town Assembly

A – The Community Planning Committee shall consist of five residents of Arden, elected by a majority of those voting at the regular March meeting. The term shall be two years, three members elected on the odd numbered years and two on even numbered years.

B – It shall be the duty of the Community Planning Committee to plan the physical and cultural future of the Community and to advise the Town Assembly and Trustees on all matters relating to the betterment and development of Arden.

For more detail on the duties of the Community Planning Committee check out the
Planning Committee’s Guidance Policy

Connecting with the Ardens Transportation Plan

Arden is teaming up with the villages of Ardencroft and Ardentown along with WILMAPCO, DelDOT, and other partners to produce a transportation plan by the summer of 2023. Residents and stakeholders will be engaged through surveys, public meetings, and other means to create a list of projects that together implement a vision of a safer, more accessible future for walkers, bikers, transit users, and motorists.

You are invited to participate in “Connecting with the Ardens: a Transportation Plan” public meeting on February 15, from 6 to 8 PM, at the Buzz Ware Village Center.  During the meeting, you will have the opportunity to learn more about the plan and share your ideas for improvements to transportation (walking, biking, driving, transit, accessibility) in the Ardens. Childcare and light refreshments will be provided. A special workshop for school age children will also be held beforehand.

For more information, go to wilmapco.org/ardens/ or contact the Community Planning Committee at planning@arden.delaware.gov.

American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA)

The Village of Arden Town Assembly, in a Special Town Meeting on May 15, 2022, approved four projects to be funded spending a total of $180,000 of our allotted $219,925. For more information about Arden and ARPA check out this link.
