WHO I AM:
I’ve lived in Arden since 2007, and I’ve served on the Forest Committee since 2009.
INTEREST AND/OR SKILLS:
My interest and passion is maintaining and diversifying the magnificent tree canopy that makes Arden special. I have worked with many arborists while tending to trees in Arden and serve on the Urban & Community Forestry Council of the Delaware Forest Service. I take classes and webinars on all aspects of tree care and forestry from The Penn State Extension, the Morris Arboretum, Mt. Cuba Center and the Delaware Nature Society and attend Tree Canopy conferences given by the Penn-Del Chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture. In order to maintain the health of our ash trees and to reduce invasive plants, I am certified by the Delaware Department of Agriculture as a pesticide applicator. Improving water quality is also an interest; I attend conferences to educate myself about Best Management Practices including the Annual Delaware Wetlands conference and the annual Watershed Congress sponsored by the Delaware Riverkeeper Network. I was coordinator for the Sherwood Forest Restoration project where we planned and implemented innovative hybrid dam structures to control water from a neighboring development that damaged our woods. To support this, I helped procure grants to plan and implement water management projects as well as multiple tree planting projects for almost $250,000
