INTEREST AND/OR SKILLS: I’ve served on the Forest Committee for 12 years and would love to continue, having found a calling in the work. I serve on the Urban & Community Forestry Council of the Delaware Forest Service and on the board of the Naaman’s Creek Watershed Association. I’m licensed as a pesticide applicator by the Delaware Department of Agriculture. The state emphasizes judicious use of chemicals and Integrated Pest Management; we have minimized or eliminated applications. I’m a member of the Morris Arboretum, Delaware Nature Society, Mt. Cuba Center, and Bartram’s Gardens. I have a particular interest in the effects of stormwater and its management, the intricacies of soil, and of course, trees. My hobby is self-education: I go to Arborist seminars and Green Industry conferences, take classes at Morris Arboretum School of Arboriculture seasonally, and attend the Delaware Riverkeeper Watershed Congress annually. I think it is important to extend our budget through grant writing, and to have respect for the judicious use of land rent.
