Civic Committee exercises general supervision over communal property rights, road repairs, construction and expenditues concerning same, and approves bills for monies so expended.
What drives me to volunteer for Civic Committee is a desire to serve all residents of the Village of Arden equally for their good and welfare, following the duties of the Committee and obeying all Town governing documents and practices. My door will always be open to anyone who has a question or comment, and I vow to acknowledge such with a written response within a day or two. I also vow to take such to the Committee as a whole for discussion at an upcoming scheduled meeting.
Having lived in Arden for 20 years, I understand the difficulties this Committee has faced in terms of executing its duties under our Charter and Town Assembly meeting. Working with other members of the Committee, I will bring to TA meeting for approval all projects, large and small, before executing them. I will work to request estimates from various contractors before anyone is hired to execute road repairs and construction in an effort to reduce Civic’s budget. I will suggest the Committee adopt Road Paving Standards in line with DOT and New Castle County. I will not spend down the budget at the end of the year with projects not approved by TA. I intend to use Municipal Street Aid wisely, and share those funds with Safety if needed. Certain jobs within my capabilities I will volunteer to perform myself or with the help of another Committee member so as not to incur a bill. I will bring to the table my years of residential experience in these matters, having owned many homes and hired contractors to perform various tasks. I intend to have a wise, thoughtful, considerate, “open-door” approach when it comes welcoming guests at Civic’s public meetings. Any information to which the public is entitled, I will make available.
