My husband, Skip Bailey, and I made Arden our home in July 2018. I have served on the Forest Committee since November 2020. In March 2022 I began serving on the Governance Task Force. I am also interested in serving on the Community Planning Committee because I view its work as essential to the success of Arden as a community. Several of the goals outlined in the Community Planning Guidance Policy overlap with the goals of the other committees on which I serve. As a member of the Forest Committee, I am deeply aware and very active in advancing one of the stated goals of the Community Planning Committee, namely “stewardship of the communal lands and greater environment.” The Community Planning has the important role of helping to define, prioritize, and implement the short- and long-range environmental stewardship projects, such as the Storm Water Plan in the Arden. Engagement with surrounding communities in efforts such as erosion control and management of invasive species are important future projects. The development of strategies for increased active engagement through volunteerism is imperative for the achievement of environmental stewardship goals and many of the other goals of the Arden Community. I am interested in helping to foster the sense of community and in finding ways to increase community involvement. My work with the Governance Task Force has given me a much better understanding of our direct democracy as well as insight into the pros and cons of this unique governing structure.
