ARPA (the American Rescue Plan Act), a federal law passed by Congress, “provides governments across the country with the resources needed to fight the pandemic, support families and businesses struggling with its public health and economic impacts; maintain vital public services, even amid declines in revenue resulting from the crisis; build a strong, resilient, and equitable recovery by making investments that support long-term growth and opportunity” Treasury Department link: State and Local Funds “Final Rule Overview”.
The Village of Arden Town Assembly, in a Special Town Meeting on May 15, 2022, approved four projects to be funded spending a total of $180,000 of our allotted $219,925. The Town Treasurer is holding approximately 10% of our award for contingencies, overruns on approved projects, and a small lawyer’s fee. With the remaining funds of approximately $20,000 the Village may choose to fund other project(s) at a later date. All ARPA funding must be committed by the Town by the end of 2024 and expended by the end of 2026.
The four projects funded on May 15, 2022, in a Special Town Meeting are:
Project 1: Engineering Design, Project Planning and Implementation for Storm Water Management Plan BMPs E1, E2 and E3; Estimated cost: $135,400; Civic & Forest Committees managers.
Project 2: BWVC Sewer Replacement; Estimated cost: $16,000; Buzz Ware Committee manager.
Project 3: Upgrade and Improve the Online (web) presence of the Arden Craft Shop Museum (ASCM); Estimated cost: $15,000; Archives Committee & ASCM managers.
Project 4: Install Playground Climber & Replace Existing Old Climber on Village Green; Estimated cost: $14,000; Playground Committee manager.
