Civic Committee

established January 1968 by the Town Assembly

The Civic Committee is responsible for the maintenance and repair of roads, paths, greens, storm sewers, and trees on greens and rights-of-way. This includes determining when repairs and maintenance are needed, soliciting bids, and hiring contractors. It oversees most permits. It is also responsible for maintenance of the Field Theater adjacent to the Village Green.

Trash & Recycling

Trash & Recycling collection in all three Ardens is handled by Waste Management. Community-wide pickup means less wear-and-tear on our roads, and is more economical too. The cost of the service is included in your land rent. If you need a receptacle or have problems with pickup, contact Waste Management directly by calling 800-345-7932, and tell them you are calling about service to the “Village of Arden.” If you say simply “Arden,” they won’t be able to find the account. (The account names for the other villages are “Trustees of Ardentown” and “Village of Ardencroft.”)
If you have a recurring problem with Waste Management, contact the Civic Committee trash liaison by sending an email here.

Our Trash & Recycling flier contains all the basic information you need. You can download it by clicking the link. WM delivers recyclables to the Delaware Solid Waste Authority, so follow DSWA guidelines for what to include in your single-stream recycling. See DSWA.com more about recycling in Delaware.

Permission Required for Tree Removal

It is the responsibility of the Civic Committee, and not the leaseholder, to remove trees on Village land (the right-of-way next to the street, for example). Contact the Civic Committee concerning problems with non-leasehold trees. For trees on Arden leaseholds, authorization for removal must be obtained from the Trustees. Please see the Trustees page to download the required form.
